New Years Day

Updated: Jul 12, 2018

Over the past 12 years our annual New Years Day Dip has become quite the tradition and in 2018 it will return in aid of Macmillan Caring Locally!

As is tradition everyone is welcome to participate and we’ll be taking the plunge at 12noon sharp so we'll be registering from 11:15-11:45am.

Wetsuits are highly recommended but by no means compulsory!! (Onesies are also more than acceptable!)

The dip will take place on Friars Cliff beach in front of the Beach Hut Cafe and registration will be at our club hut which can be accessed via the steps next to the cafe. Please ensure that you register with us there before participating in the swim.

There is a voluntary donation of £5 per participant, sponsorship forms are available. All money raised will be going to Macmillan Caring Locally and there will be donation tubs on the prom and at the club hut on the day!

Please ensure that you bring a warm change of clothes and a towel with you and wrap up warm once you leave the water. As the section of beach where we will be running in has a lot of sharp stones, please ensure that you wear (suitable) footwear to protect your feet from the stones. For example; old trainers or wetsuit shoes.

Our participant liability declaration form is absolutely compulsory and will be available for signing on the day but can also be read in advance here. A parental or legal guardian signature is required for all participants under the age of 18 on the 1st of January 2018 regardless of their SLSGB membership status.
